Drywood Termites
Subterranean Termites
Dampwood Termites
Light brown in color, and are about 3/8" to 1" long. These termite live in dry wood and do not need contact with the soil.
They will form colonies up to 2,500. The work is done by immature termites before they reach adulthood.
Creamy brown in color, and about 1/8" -1" long. These termites live in underground colonies up to 2 million. They build
tunnels to reach their food source. These are the most destructive and can collapse a building entirely.
Brownish in color, and about 1/2" - 5/8" long. These termites live in wood with a hight moisture content. These are normally
larger in size and their wings extend beyond their abdomen. Not often found in structures because of their need for moisture.
Formosan Termites
Yellowish brown in color, and about 1/2" long including their wings. These are the most voracious, aggressive and devious of
over 2,000 termite species. They are a subterranean species and also live in large underground colonies and build tunnels.
These are very difficult to control. Prevention is key.
* The formosan termite can consume hundreds of pounds of wood in one year.
* Subterranean termites are a concern in every state except
Alaska.
* Termites work 24hrs a day.
* They cause more damage than tornadoes, hail storms, wind storms, and hurricanes combined.
Causing over 1 billion dollars in damages every year.
* Some queen termites can lay 86,000 eggs a day, and can grom 3"-4" long.
